Joseph J. Fins, M.D., DHL(hc), DMSc(hc), MACP, FRCP, is the E. William Davis, Jr., M.D. Professor of Medical Ethics, chief of the Division of Medical Ethics, and professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, and director of Medical Ethics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. He co-directs the Consortium for the Advanced Study of Brain Injury at Weill Cornell and Rockefeller University and is a distinguished scholar in medicine, bioethics, and law at Yale Law School. An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, he has authored over 500 publications, including “Rights Come to Mind” (Cambridge, 2015). A past president of major bioethics societies, Dr. Fins is a Hastings Center Fellow and chairs its Board.
