We welcome applications from medical students enrolled in Weill Cornell Medical College who wish to transfer into the MD-Program. Interested students should reach out to Dr. Catharine Boothroyd.
Transfer Policy
We do not accept transfers from outside Weill Cornell Medical College.
Eligibility
To be considered for transfer to the MD-PhD Program, a Weill Cornell medical student must have completed at least one major research experience with a research faculty member who has an appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College, Weill Cornell Graduate School, The Rockefeller University, or the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Transfers can occur either mid-way through the clerkship year (after M2), which puts transfer students on the same trajectory as “typical” MD-PhD students, or after the Area of Concentration project (after M3). All transfer applicants must be in good academic standing at time of application and transfer and have successfully passed USMLE Step 1 (if transferring after M2) and USMLE Step 2 (if transferring after M3). It is strongly recommended that applicants who plan to apply for transfer enroll in the MD-PhD courses Frontiers in Biomedical Science I and II in M1 and M2, respectively; if the applicant has not done so, they will be expected to satisfactorily complete both courses post-transfer.
