Certification and Payments
  • Enrollment Certification
Once the semester begins and you have been enrolled in coursework, Cornell's School Certifying Officials (SCOs) will certify your enrollment and submit tuition and fee charges to the VA. Certifications are submitted no earlier than 30 days prior to the start of the semester.

  • Updates During the Semester
Any changes to enrollment and/or tuition and fees are submitted to the VA throughout the semester, as necessary.
If your VA allotment changes at any point, you will be responsible for resolving any outstanding balance. Be sure to notify both financial aid and student accounting if the VA informs you of any award changes.

  • VA Payments
VA payments are typically expected 3-4 weeks after Cornell SCO certifies your benefits. If you have courses with variable start dates, tuition may be allocated to those classes, which may result in multiple tuition payments arriving throughout the term.

  • Annual and Semester Verification
Each year you will receive an email when the required VA Benefits form is available.
Each semester you will receive an email to verify your VA Benefits request. Verification must be submitted each semester.  If you need to make changes, you may update your request and resubmit.
