Health Insurance

Students enrolled in a degree seeking program at Weill Cornell Medicine are required to have applicable health insurance coverage.

Domestic students can have coverage through the WCM provided plan or enrollment in an equivalent plan. 
International students (e.g. who hold an F/H-1 visa) are required to enroll in the WCM provided coverage. 

At the start of each academic year, all applicable students are automatically enrolled and charged for the WCM Student Health Insurance plan.

Student Health Plan
Weill Cornell Medicine’s Student Health Plan (SHP) is administered by Aetna Student Health and supported by Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk with oversight from Cornell’s Student Health Benefits Office

SHP was designed to provide access to convenient and comprehensive care in the U.S or abroad. SHP does not include adult dental or vision coverage and students may annually elect to purchase these optional coverages.

$8,904 or $742 per month for FY26

Copays

Typical copays at participating ("in-network") providers:

  • $25 for routine medical visits (tests and procedures will cost more)
  • $50 for urgent care visits (tests and procedures will cost more)
  • $10 for mental health visits

Emergency care (any provider):

  • $100 copay for emergency room visits
  • No copay for medically necessary ambulance transports
